In a tragic incident, two people died while three others were injured after a house collapsed in Seelampur area on late Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Moni(21) and Mohammed Yaseen (65) both residents of K block Seelampur.
According to a senior Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official, a call at around 10:30 pm on Monday regarding the building collapse following which around six fire tenders were rushed to the E16/K157 Seelampur in which people were trapped. "National Disaster Response Force, police and District Disaster Management Authority also joined in the rescue operation," said the senior DFS official.
According to Atul Kumar Thakur, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North East, during the rescue operation, five people were taken out of the debris and rushed to the hospital where Moni and Yaseen were declared brought dead.
"While the three injured who are undergoing treatment have been identified as Arman(33), Sahajan Begam(33) who are undergoing treatment at GTB hospital," said the DCP.
"The fifth person Samshudin was discharged after first aid from JPC Hospital. We have registered a case under section 304/323/34 of Indian penal code at Seelampur police station and further investigation is underway," said the DCP. Police have also arrested two accused identified as Ikramuddin (60) and Gufran (32), a carpenter both resident of Seelampur.
