2 fresh dengue cases appear,  total hits 14 this year so far

Two fresh cases of Dengue were reported in Delhi last week, suggested the weekly report released by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Monday. A total of 14 cases have been recorded this year so far.

Out of the fresh cases of the vector borne disease, one has been reported from the Najafgarh area of Delhi. The other one was found to be acquired from other states on investigation.

A total of 14 cases have been reported in the National Capital so far out of which two belong to Delhi while 10 have been found to be acquired from other states on investigation. In two cases, the address of the patients was not provided by the hospitals, stated the report.

Apart from that, two cases of Chikungunya have also been reported this year so far. Of the two, one belongs to Delhi while the other was acquired from the other states, the report further said.

No case of Malaria has been reported so far, the report suggested. Last year, a total of 7136 cases were reported in the capital.

A senior SDMC official said that in 2017 a total of 9371 dengue cases were recorded while in 2018, it has been reduced to 7136 due to measures taken by the Municipal Corporations.

The civic agencies had adopted a number of measures to prevent breeding in premises of offices, buildings and societies.

Besides, Dengue Breeding Checkers (DBCs) kept visiting various places to check the breeding. Other measures were also taken to contain the disease including creating awareness by using various media and desilting of drains, the official said.
