2 held for supplying illicit liquor

Ahead of the general elections, the Delhi Police have intensified vigil to check supply of illicit liquor in the national Capital.  In two separate incidents, the police have seized a huge cache of liquor in North-East district and South-East district.

The police of South-East District seized a huge haul of liquor and arrested two bootleggers identified as, Shaktivel (42) and Annadarai (45) both resident of Madrasi Camp, said Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South-East district adding that prior to their arrested 413 cartons of liquor have been recovered and seized.

“Following a tip off raid was conducted at Madrasi Camp in Lajpat Nagar. When the team reached near abandoned railway quarters near railway line, four persons carrying sacks on their back were seen going towards Madrasi Camp. On seeing the police party, they all started running. However two of them were nabbed while the other two managed to flee away,” said the DCP.

While a 23-year-old bootlegger was arrested by the northeast district police. The accused has been identified as, Kailash a native of Badayun, UP and 33 Cartons containing 1584 quarters of illicit liquor was recovered from his possession and seized.

“On Wednesday, a patrol team of New Usmanpur police station received a tip off regarding illicit liquor following which a raid was conducted at Sharda Kuan third Pusta and Kailash was nabbed, said Atul Kumar Thakur, the DCP, North east district.
