A 21-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and beaten brutally by her brother-in-law at Van Vihar National Park; Shymala Hills police have registered case against accused.

Police said that the victim was sexually assaulted and beaten brutally by the accused Vikram Jathav and later escaped from the spot. The victim hails from Khajuri Mughalia Chaap while accused is husband of her cousin.

In her complaint victim stated that accused used to visit her house frequently and she was acquainted with her. On the day of the incident accused came to the house and asked her to accompany him to Van Vihar and as she was acquainted with the accused she joined her. The two went to Van Vihar where the accused took her to a hut and raped her and when she opposed the atrocity she was beaten brutally by the accused. Later the accused dropped the victim at her house. The victim reported the incident to the parents and a complaint was lodged with the Khajuri police where a case of zero FIR was registered and later it was transferred to Shymala Hills police station for investigation.

The victim is final year student of Bachelor of Arts while details of accused would be investigated.  After the case was transferred to Shymala Hills a case under sections 376, 323 and 506 of the IPC and started search for the accused who went absconding.

Meanwhile, Jehangirbad police have booked a 19-year-old youth for molesting an 18-year-old girl at Chicklod road on Monday. The accused identified as Shazaan was booked for molesting the victim.
