22-year-old critical after attempting suicide

A 22-year-old, third-year student of polytechnic attempted to commit suicide here on Friday. The student has been identified as Rahul, a native of Saharanpur and is undergoing treatment at Government Doon medical college hospital.

According to the information provided by Sahaspur police, the man is a student of JBIT polytechnic college and was living in a rented room at Shankarpur, Rampur.

According to the Sahaspur police station officer, police have found remains of the toxic Celphos (aluminium phosphide) from his room. They have not found any suicide note from the scene and as the victim himself is in a critical condition right now, it has become difficult to ascertain the cause behind this incident. The victim was taken to the hospital by his relatives. The investigation in the case is still ongoing.
