In an incident reported from Northwest district’s Shalimar Bagh area, a 22-year-old youth was allegedly shot dead by three unidentified assailants on Sunday evening.
According to police, the victim was identified as Mohit, a resident of a jhuggi cluster in Haiderpur area of Shalimar Bagh, where he lived with his family.
“A police control room (PCR) call was received at 6.45 pm on Sunday regarding a man with bullet injuries lying on the road,” said a senior police official.
Mohit was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The body was sent for postmortem following which the body will be handed to the family of the deceased.
During investigations, police found that the victim sustained multiple bullet injuries, after which, the accused persons fled the scene.
Police said they are questioning the family and relatives of Mohit and are probing all angles including that of personal enmity, however, no CCTV cameras were installed in the area to figure out the sequence of events or identify the accused persons, police said.
“A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Shalimar Bagh Police Station,” a senior police official said, adding that they are further investigating the matter to determine the motive behind the murder.
