On Valentine’s Day, a fire broke out in Archies Gallery’s three-storey factory in west Delhi’s Naraina on Thursday morning. No casualties were reported. The fire was caused due to short circuit on the first floor of the building.

According to fire department, a call was received at 7.10 am after which initially, 23 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was controlled by 11.15 am and the cooling process was initiated.

“Later, seven more fire tenders were rushed to the spot. It is suspected that the short circuit occurred on the first floor. The factory’s guards first tried to douse the fire with fire extinguishers. When they were curtail fire, there was no sufficient carbon dioxide in the extinguishers and later they called the fire department, said a senior official of Delhi Fire Services (DFS).

“We have NOC and placed all the required equipments. We had fire extinguishers, fire alarms and fire jets. It seems like the short circuit occurred in fire alarms due to which it did not work,” the manager of the factory said.

“There are around 200 employees working here. The time when the incident happened, no one was here as the office starts from 9 am in the morning and ends in the evening at around 6. Initially, guards tried to control the fire but when they did not succeed, they called fire department,” said the manager.

The building is located at an area of 20,000 square feet. On the front side of the building, there was the corporate office while the factory was located on the back side.

The whole building iss inter-connected and used to manufacture the cards and gifts items for Archies Gallery.
