2429 drug peddlers held

Madhya Pradesh Police and Narcotics Wing have nabbed 2429 drug peddlers and 1867 cases under drug trafficking have been registered in the past seven months. In 57 cases police have nabbed 93 drug peddlers who are involved in large scale transport of drugs illegally.

The Narcotics Wing under state-wide campaign to strictly stop the sale of drugs illegally and nab drug peddlers involved in this illegal trade nabbed 2429 persons involved in drug peddling.

The state-wide campaign yielded good results as for the same period  680 were arrested in the year 2016, 812 were arrested in the year 2017 and  1354 were arrested in the year 2018.

In the first seven months of the year 2019, about 9.20 kg smack, about 131.60 kg opium and its 5318 plants, about 6776 kg hemp and its 44289 plants, 3.86 kg charas, 26319 kg doda sawdust and 47897 bottles of drugs and tablets have been recovered.

On the instructions of the Director General of Police VK Singh “Prahar and Pratikar" campaign was carried out to take strict action against illegal drug traffickers and to bring awareness towards de-addiction.

Under this campaign, 244 offenses were registered and 200 accused were arrested in the state in the last 15 days. Besides, 1692 meetings were organized in educational institutions etc. More than 1.77 lakh youths, students and general public were shared about the harms of drugs. All the participants have filled resolution letter to make the society a drug free society.
