A 25-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Nimiyakhand, under Dandai police station, on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sarita Devi resident of villages Nimiyakhand under Dandai police station. A case was registered after her family alleged murder in their complaint. Later, police took her husband into custody.
According to police sources, Sarita, daughter of Laldhari Chaudhary, resident of Chausatha village under Chianpur police station of Palamu district, was married to Puran Chaudhary, son of Ram Gahan Chaudhary, about five years ago. The couple has a three years son and a one year old daughter.
According to sources, the couple used to quarrel often. On Sunday night, they had another tiff. Sarita’s parents, though, alleged that her husband Puran Chaudhary had murdered her and filed a complaint to that effect at Dandai police station, based on which, a case against her husband and father in-law and mother-in-law was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC, following which, Puran was arrested.
Sarita was found hanging in her sroom, which was locked from inside. Her husband broke the door to get in with the help of a neighbour, and alerted police. A team from Dandai police station, led by Thana in-charge Birendra Hansda soon reached the spot and carried out the initial investigation.
DSP headquarter Dilip Xalxo said, “A probe is being conducted. Action will be taken according to the report” and adding "Puran sent to the judicial custody today."
