The Delhi Police has arrested a 26-year-old dentist in connection with the celebratory firing incident which got viral on social media. On June 22, a video got viral on social media in which some people were seen involved in open firing in the air at Muskan Chowk, near Shyam Lal College in Shahdara area.
According to Ved Praksh Surya, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara district, after the video got viral, a case was registered at police station Shahdara and a police team was formed to investigate the incident.
“One of the accused was identified as Kamal Deep and he was arrested on Monday. During interrogation, the accused revealed that on the night of June 21, he along with his friends had gone to attend the marriage party of their best friend in Lotus Grey Banquet Hall, Sahibabad (Uttar Pradesh),” said Surya.
‘When they were returning in the night, they reached near Muskan Chowk and stopped their vehicle. Later they opened fire in the air to show up. He has disclosed the names of other accused too. Efforts are being made to nab them,” said the additional DCP.
“Kamal has worked at a government hospital earlier and he has not been working anywhere for the last two weeks. We are also checking whether the weapon used was a licensed weapon or not. Further investigation is underway,” said the additional DCP added.
