Administration has targeted to provide houses under Prime Minister Awas Yojna to 3300 beneficiaries in the financial year 2019-20. The beneficiaries must be selected through Gram Sabha by the end of this month, said Ravi Ranjan Mishra DDC Bokaro.
“We have also targeted to provide Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas to 56 beneficiaries during this financial year. The beneficiaries will be selected after organising camps in each and every panchayats,” he added.
Expressing deep concern over the pending construction works of PM Awas, which were allotted during the FY 2016-17 and 2017-18, the DDC directed the officials to file certificate cases against those defaulters after serving them notice.
Additional Municipal Commissioner, Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) Sashi Prakash Jha said, the administration is preparing to come down heavily on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’s (PMAY) beneficiaries, who have not yet started the construction work of their houses despite withdrawing money under this scheme.
“At least 576 beneficiaries have been identified, who have not started the construction work of their houses despite withdrawing the first installment of the money,” he added.
“We have asked the officials to submit a final report earliest so that legal action would be taken against the defaulters. Those beneficiaries who have made the withdrawal of the money will have to complete their construction anyhow before 31 May,” he said.
Chas BDO S Sandilya recently issued show cause notices to 19 panchayat secretaries and asked them to reply within three days but replies are still awaited.
“It’s a very serious issue; once again we are preparing to execute notices, legal action would be taken if we did not get a reply,” said Sandilya.
Earlier CMC served notices to 20 PMAY beneficiaries, who have not constructed their houses despite withdrawing money under this scheme and asked them to refund the money as earliest, informed an official.
