As many as 3.54 lakh children between zero and five years of age are likely to be administered polio drops during the first phase of an immunisation drive on 3 to 5 February in Bokaro district, informed Dr Arjun Prasad in-charge Civil Surgeon.

Dr Prasad said, a micro plan to administer polio drops has been ready, at least 3,54,071 children would be given polio drops.

“As many as 2034 vaccination booths have been set up (including 1830 in the urban area and 204 in rural areas) and 4,261 vaccinators have been posted along with 309 observers in 2135 groups (team) to administer polio drops,” he added.

 "We have targeted about 42000 kids in Bermo, 42801 in Chandankiyari, 119904 at Chas, 40759 Gomia, 18829 in Jaridih, 14054 Kasmar, 29254 Nawadih, 23324 Paterwar and 23166 kids at Bokaro Steel City to administer polio drops," said a health official.

Parents should come with their children to the nearby vaccination booths and get the drops administered on  February 3.

The District Health Department will be doing mop up exercises (go door to door) on 4 and 5 February and administer polio drops to children who have missed out on 28 January, said Dr Prasad.

“The mop-up exercises will be conducted in both urban as well as rural areas,” he added. The second phase of an immunisation drive (administer polio drops) will be conducted across the district on 11 to 13 March, said Dr Prasad.

“Few transit booths will be also available at railway stations and bus stations to administer polio drops,” he added.
