The Delhi Police has arrested three men for allegedly beating two persons after their car was allegedly hit by the victim's vehicle in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday and a video of the incident also went viral on social media.
The accused have been identified as Prabhjot Singh (27), Gagan Shegal (29), residents of Tilak Nagar and Preet Singh (31), a resident of Vikas Puri.
According to a senior police official, Amit Bagga, an owner of a departmental store, lodged a complaint at Punjabi Bagh police station where he alleged that on Thursday at around 12.30 AM, he, along with his manager Yugam, was preparing to go back to the home.
"One Swift car came from behind in a rash and negligence manner and hit his I-10 car, which was parked outside his store. The driver of the Swift car was inebriated," said the police official.
"Suddenly, the occupants of the car started beating him and his manager Yugam and also called their accomplices. Bagga ran towards stilt parking but they chased him and beaten him mercilessly. Thereafter, they fled from the spot along with Bagga's bag containing around Rs 12 to 15 lakh," said the police official.
"Later, a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and the accused were arrested. The accused, Prabhjot is a property dealer, Preet is a car dealer and Shegal is a contractor," said the police official adding that further investigation is going on.
