300 buses to be added in UTC fleet by end of month

The State Transport Minister Yashpal Arya launched new buses of the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) here on Sunday. He also flagged off 10 high-tech buses, six towards Kumaon region and four for Tanakpur region. On this occasion, Minister Arya said that these new buses will not only provide better facilities to the passengers but will also help UTC to cut down its losses.

He further said that buses have been designed in such a way that even the passengers going towards mountainous regions can have comfortable journey.

He further said, “The buses are designed to give comfortable experience to the passengers. Especially taking women safety into consideration, panic buttons and CCTV cameras have been installed in every bus, which will be monitored from the control room at the transport directorate.

Similarly, in order to check the location of buses, GPS has also been installed. With the help of GPS, control room will also be able to keep a check on the speed of the buses. The buses have also been installed with fire detection system, alarm system, emergency, and passenger door with alarm system.”

He added, “These buses are Euro-IV compliant, which will generate less pollution than other vehicles.”

UTC General Manager (Operation and Technical) Deepak Jain said that the UTC is going to add 300 new buses in its fleet. In the first phase 150 buses are being added, among which 50 will operate from Dehradun depot, 65 buses will be operating from Kumaon region and 35 buses have been allocated to Tanakpur depot. He further assured that all 300 buses will be added in the UTC fleet by the end of October.
