33-yr-old woman constable commits suicide in Dwarka

In a tragic incident, a 33-year-old woman constable of  Delhi Police allegedly committed suicide in Dwarka’s Chhawla area.  Police said Constable Lalita, who was posted at Chhawla Police Station, did not came to duty on Wednesday and while investigation it was also revealed that she was under medication for cancer.

According to a senior police official, Lalita, a 2006 batch constable posted at Chhawla police station was found hanging with a dupatta inside the bathroom near the ventilation area inside her house in Durga vihar area.

“Police had received a police control room (PCR) call around 11.30 pm on Wednesday from her neighbours informing that no one was opening the door of her house and Lalita was also not responding to her phone calls,” said the senior police official.

“Acting on the call Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) was sent to the spot. A team reached spot and found the house locked from inside. The door was broken and when the police team went inside the house, they found Lalita hanging inside the bathroom with the help of a scarf”,  said the senior police official.

“She was rushed to nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. Her body was sent for post-mortem while her family members were informed about the incident,” said the police official privy to investigation.

“No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Her family members have not levelled any allegations on police or anyone,” said the police official adding that further investigation is on.
