A team of 34 adventure seekers will be a part of twin expeditions to the 19,600 ft Mt. Kanamo in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh.

It is for the consecutive sixth year that Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) is organising an expedition to Mt. Kanamo. The expedition to the 19,600 ft high Peak situated in Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, is slated from July 23 to July 31 2019 and from August 2 to August 10.

Hemant Gupta, senior manager, adventure programme, TSAF, said that the team members will gather at Manali on their own for both the expeditions. “The journey will serve a platform for developing leadership skills, challenging situations on the mountains and will give an opportunity to learn tolerance for adversity and uncertainty, judgement and decision making,” he explained.

The expedition would be led by TSAF’s head instructor Susen Mahato (Everester). Premlata Agrawal would be there as a mentor and guide to the team. Asmita Dorjee, Sr Instructor, will look after administration and the team would be supported by Gopal Bisht and Randeb Singh.

Susen Mahato has considerable field experience in handling different groups in the Himalayas. He has been part of the TSAF team for conducting Leadership Development courses in Himalayas for more than 12 years. He is a qualified mountaineer and has successfully completed various expeditions including Chamser Kangri 21,798 ft.

"Through job distribution between team members, they would be given the responsibility of taking care of specific work like preparing food, load ferry to higher camps, managing equipment and tents.

Mt Kanamo expedition is one of the most eagerly awaited events of TSAF and has been instrumental in promoting a culture of fitness and wellness," said an official.
