41 Roads remain blocked across State

While the roads to the Char Dham shrines are open to traffic, at least 41 roads in different districts of the State were reported to be closed to traffic as on Thursday evening.

According to information provided by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), in the Rudraprayag district, the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway 107 is open for small and big vehicles up to Gaurikund. The Sonprayag-Kedarnath bridle path is also open. However, four rural motor roads are closed to traffic with efforts being undertaken to open these.

In the Dehradun district only one rural motor road was reported to be closed. In the Uttarkashi district, the Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway 108 is open for small and big vehicles upto Gangotri. The Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway 94 is open for small and big vehicles till Jankichatti. Two rural motor roads are blocked in the districts. Efforts are underway to open these to traffic. Similarly, the Chamoli district the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 is open for small and big vehicles upto Badrinath. A total of three rural motor roads are blocked in the district with efforts underway to clear these for traffic. Five rural motor roads are blocked in the Tehri district. In the Pauri district, a total of seven rural motor roads were reported to be closed to traffic while in the Almora district only one rural motor road was closed. In the Bageshwar district, a total of nine rural motor roads were reported to be closed with efforts underway to open these to traffic. In the Champawat district, the Tanakpur-Champawat national highway 9 is blocked by debris near Dhaun. The Devidhura-Pancheshwar state road is also blocked by debris. In addition to these two roads, four rural motor roads in the district are also blocked. The situation was reported to be normal in Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Three rural motor roads are reported to be closed to traffic in the Pithoragarh district with efforts underway to clear these and resume traffic.
