436 polling booths super-sensitive, 714 hyper-sensitive in Bokaro

Giridih Lok Sabha constituency is all set to go for the peaceful and fearless poll. Unprecedented security personnel comprising BSF, Jharkhand police personnel, SISS and CRPF personnel with Zonal and Super Zonal Magistrates, Micro observers would be deployed to conduct peaceful, said KN Jha Deputy Commissioner Bokaro and Electoral Officer of Giridih LS constituency.

Total 436 booths have been placed in super-sensitive, 714 as hyper-sensitive while 606 in general categories, built in 934 buildings in Bokaro district. Among those 166 booths are vulnerable, 20 Sakhi booths while one is airlifting polling station, he said.

As many as 27,21,770 voters would cast their rights under the Giridih Lok Sabha constituency in which a total of 14,28,643 voters will exercise their franchise in Bokaro district, includes 7,63,663 male and 6,62,940 female voters while 24 transgender and 2016 service voters for Giridih LS constituency, Jha said. 

“About 7294 voters in Bokaro district will use their votes for the first time in this LS poll,” he added

Giridih Lok Sabha constituency covers parts of Giridih, Bokaro and Dhanbad districts. This constituency comprises the six legislative assembly segments includes Giridih Assembly constituency – Giridih (32) and Dumri (33), Bokaro Assembly constituency – Gomia (34) and Bermo (35), Dhanbad Assembly constituency – Tundi (42) and Baghmara (43).

The elections will be held in four phases in Jharkhand, while for Giridih Lok Sabha seat the Election Commission has set May 12 as the date. Along with Giridih, the election will be held at Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and Singhbhum (Chaibasa) on this date, he said.

For Giridih Lok Sabha Constituency candidates can file their nomination papers before the District Electoral Officer at Bokaro between 11 am to 3 pm from 16 April to 23 April. April 23 is the last date for the candidates to file nomination for the Giridih LS seat while scrutiny would be done on April 24. Candidates can withdraw from the poll fray by 26 April. Voting date is 12 May and counting of the vote will be conducted on 23 May, informed Jha.

For nomination, a candidate belongs form general category will have to deposit Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 12,500 for the ST/ SC candidate as security and the candidate has to file his nomination paper in four sets of the documents.

During the nomination, only four persons would be allowed to accompany the candidate before the electoral officer. Only three vehicles are allowed to accompany the candidate must have to park at a safe distance (100 meters) for the nomination, said Jha.    

Bokaro SP P Murugan urged voters, "There is no need to fear. We are ready to tackle any untoward incidents during poll’. Sufficient numbers of security personnel along with 195 magistrates were deployed to conduct peace and fair poll, the SP said.
