50 students injured  as high-tension  wire falls into school

Tragedy hit Balrampur when about 50 students were injured after a high-tension wire fell into a primary school in Naya Nagar Vishnupur area of the district on Monday morning. 

The students were admitted to a hospital where the condition of three of them was to be serious. 

Taking a serious note of the mishap, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the officials to extend the best medical assistance to the injured. He also ordered the managing director of Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitram Nigamm to conduct a high level probe into the incident and submit his findings in the next 24 hours along with report of action taken against those responsible for the incident. 

Yogi Adityanath also asked the MD to start a state-wide drive immediately to repair all faulty high tension wires. 

The Chief Minister warned of stern action if similar incident was reported from anywhere in the state. 

According to District Magistrate Karun Karunesh, when the high tension wire fell into the school, the students were at a distance but water had collected on the compound after rainfall due to which they came in contact with electricity.

He said 50 students sustained injuries and they were sent to nearby hospitals,.

Two employees of the Power department were suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered against the junior engineer concerned. 

The District Magistrate said the basic education officer and Power department’s executive engineer were issued directions to conduct a survey of schools and remove any such wire passing over them.
