A 50-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit at her house in Kewat tola Bokaro's Mahuatard on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Lalita Devi. She lived with her daughter-in-law, while her two grandsons had gone to their aunty's house, a senior police officer said.
Villagers informed Mahuatard police after the incident. Soon after getting the information, police reached her house and found that her body was lying on the floor in a pool of blood with her throat slit, Officer-in Charge Sukumar Tuddu of Mahuatard police station said.
During preliminary investigation, it was found that the house had not been ransacked and there was no forced entry, he said. A murder case has been registered at Mahuatard police station and an investigation is underway, the police said.
The police team is also questioning with her daughter-in-law to look for clues and they are probing all angles to ascertain the sequence of events.
The body has been sent for post-mortem at Tenughat, Officer-in Charge said.
The relatives suspect alleged involvement of her daughter-in-law in the murder, police said, adding that the investigation in the matter is underway.
