A 50-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping his minor niece multiple times in Dwarka’s Najafgarh area. According to a senior police official, a 13-year-old girl approached them on Tuesday and alleged that she was raped by her maternal uncle multiple times.
“The victim’s mother had died 12 years ago when she was six-month-old and soon after her father also went missing. Later, she started living with her uncle,” said the senior police official.
“She said that she to live in her uncle’s house at Najafgarh area and alleged that she was raped at least four to five times when she was alone. They had shifted to a rented accommodation in nearby area around two months ago,” said the senior police official.
“After her medical examination, a case under section 376 (Punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code and 6 POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) has been registered and the accused has been arrested on Wednesday,” the senior police official added.
The accused works in a tyre puncture shop and has two married sons and three daughters. “The victim was the only child of her parents. She was school dropout and had studied up to fifth standard,” the senior police official added.
