A total of 51,05,290 farmers have so far been provided financial assistance under the State Government’s flagship Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.
Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo informed this in the Assembly on Wednesday.
He said that while 57.11 lakh farmers had applied for KALIA assistance, 51, 05, 290 have already been benefited. The Government has planned to cover a total of 75 lakh farmers under the scheme, he added.
Notably, Rajya Sabha BJD member Prasanna Acharya had recently urged the Centre to merge the PM-KISAN Yojana with KALIA. Speaking in the Parliament, Acharya pointed out that KALIA is a zero-per cent interest loan to farmers, sharecroppers and landless farmers.
