58-year-old bootlegger arrested

The Delhi Police has arrested a 58-year-old bootlegger who was previously arrested 50 times in cases of Excise Act, Arms Act and NDPS Act in his 30 year of criminal career.

The accused has been identified as Mahajan Singh a resident of JJ Colony Uttam Nagar who is also declared bad character in Uttam Nagar area. Though he is a graduate, but opted for easy money through criminal activities.

“Following a tip off on Thursday that Mahajan Singh is stocking huge quantity of illegal liquor which shall be sold on Holi, the team swung into action and arrested him. Total 30 cartons containing 1378 qtrs of Liquor and 24 bottles of beer were recovered from his possession,” said Anto

Alphonse, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Dwarka district.

“He was first arrested in 1989 while found in possession of illegal liquor and remained in jail for few days where he nurtured his criminal qualities,” said the DCP.
