6 including two minors killed in road accident

Six persons died when the car they were travelling in fell down a gorge at Banpur bend near Tyuni.

According to the police the car was going from Banpur to Tyuni market at the time of accident.

Police are still trying to ascertain the cause of accident.The deceased have been identified as Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) sub inspector Pawan Negi (32) who was driving the car, his wife Rashmi Negi (26), his daughter Ishika (4), Suman Tomar (33), her son Aarav Tomar (5) and Murtu Devi (72).

Information about the mishap, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nivedita Kukreti said, “Six persons including two minors and one CISF sub-inspector were killed in a road accident in Tyuni on Monday.

We are investigating about the cause of mishap. The bodies have been pulled out from the gorge and the families were informed.”

Station Officer (SO) Tyuni, SL Bharti said, “At 10:30 AM we got the information about an accident near Banpur Bend. We reached there for rescuing but all six were found dead on the spot. It is hard to tell the exact cause of the accident. The roads here are bit narrow, but there is no eye witness of the accident.”

According to the information provided by police, the accident happened at about 9:30 in the morning.

SI Negi was on holiday and they all were planning to visit a temple.

Near Banpur bend he is believed to have lost control of the car causing it to drop into a 500 metre deep gorge.

With the help of locals police team and a team from revenue department extracted the bodies out of the gorge.

After completing the formalities of post-mortem the bodies were handed over to the families.
