76% families in State get LPG cover: CM

Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday said more than 76 per cent families of the State are now covered with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for cooking as against that of 25 per cent on October 19, 2016. The CM, while addressing people at the UJJWALA Didis conference in Hazaribagh said on Wednesday that the Government will provide LPG connections to all eligible people under the UJJWALA Yojna.

The CM said on the occasion that more than 43 lakh women will get free second cylinder filling. He said that 33 lakh beneficiaries got the LPG connection under the scheme and remaining 10 lakh will get the connections by September 30. LPG gas cylinders and stoves have to be provided to 100 per cent families free of cost so that women of the State can be empowered with smoke free kitchen.

Das said that the Government's purpose behind making Ujjwala didi is clear. We have to secure the kitchen of all the sisters. Ujjwala didi of all panchayats will go home and give information about safe use of LPG. For this, 70 women will be made master trainers in Ranchi, who will train Ujjwala Didis at the block level so that all the kitchens of the village can be made safe. At the same time, all Ujjwala didi will also identify families that have not received the benefit of Ujjwala scheme. The government will benefit the missing families from the scheme.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also symbolically transferred the amount through DBT for additional refills to Lakho Devi, Kanti Moso Manjhi, Sohagi Devi, Mana Devi and Lakshmi Devi. Additional refills were given to Sukaya Devi, Gulab Devi, Uma Devi, Bodhani Devi and Lalitha Devi on the occasion. The CM also launched the District Administration App to eradicate malnutrition and launched the District Administration Hazaribagh Gate Amrit Card. Under this, a target has been set to make 15 thousand children of Hazaribagh malnutrition free.

At the Ujjwala Didi Conference, Minister Amar Kumar Bauri, Minister Neera Yadav, MP Dhanbad PN Singh, MP Koderma Annapurna Devi, MLA Hazaribagh Sadar Manish Jaiswal, Mandu MLA Jayaprakash Bhai Patel, MLA Barkatha Janaki Yadav, Giridih MLA Nirbhay Shahabadi, president of 20 point Rakesh Prasad and a large number of women of Sakhi Mandal and Ujjwala Didids was present.

Earlier, the CM also inaugurated the Konar Irrigation project in Hazaribag that was incomplete for the past 42 years. The project will benefit 85 villages of three districts in the area.

Work on the project began after 2014 and was completed in 5 years. The Konar irrigation project will directly benefit farmers in 20 villages of Vishnugarh block of Hazaribagh, Dumri of Giridih and 62 villages of Bagodar block and 3 villages of Nawadih block of Bokaro.

The CM said on the occasion that development has got a new dimension with the inauguration of the irrigation project. “This is the beginning of a new era. With this irrigation project, development stream will flow in Hazaribagh, Giridih and Bokaro. This will prove to be a milestone in the development of these areas. This will lead to an increase in the yield of the fields. Prosperity will come in this area and farmers will be happy. This will also strengthen the government's intention to double the income of farmers by 2022,” he said.

Das inaugurated 11 irrigation schemes online on this occasion. Apart from this, the Project System Monitoring System App of the Water Resources Department was also launched. Through this App, the achievements of Water Resources Department will be known to people. The CM asked the department to install solar power plant on the tunnel of Konar irrigation project so that the surrounding areas can also get electricity.
