The patients bound for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur from Sarona Railway station will soon have to travel only 300 metres, instead of around 5 kilometres now, to reach their destination.
Raipur Member of Parliament Sunil Soni talking to ‘The Pioneer’ said, “Initiatives have been taken to construct a road linking AIIMS hospital and Sarona Railway station. At present the patients getting down at Sarona Railway Station has to cover longer distance to reach AIIMS. With the opening of a new road, they will have to travel just 300 metres.”
Divisional Railway Manager Kaushal Kishore and senior officials of AIIMS have mutually agreed to open a new road after conducting joint inspection, Soni said on Tuesday.
The Raipur MP further stated that on Wednesday a joint visit with Raipur Commissioner and Raipur Municipal Corporation officials will be conducted. The RMC have been asked to construct the road.
He added that suggestion was forwarded to the authority concerned to rename the railway station, as ‘AIIMS-Sarona’, which has been accepted in principle by Railway authorities.
