Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will stage protests at all district headquarters on Friday to demand justice for Pushpendra Yadav who was allegedly killed by police in an encounter.
In Lucknow the party will stage protest at GPO Park.
Giving this information, AAP state president Sabhajet Singh alleged that Pushpendra Yadav was killed under a conspiracy hatched by the Jhansi police.
“We met the family members of the deceased and also the villagers. Besides the family of Pushpendra, the villagers also told us that the said encounter was fake. They said the police forcibly cremated the body on the same day the alleged encounter took place. The police are hell-bent on proving that Pushpendra was a mining mafia even though no case of serious crime is registered against him at the police station,” Singh said.
The AAP state president said the Yogi Adityanath government was encouraging police encounters in the name of improving law and order in Uttar Pradesh.
“There is a jungle raj in UP.... The Bharatiya Janata Party government has failed to check crimes. Now they have taken the ‘encounter’ route to kill innocent people who are opposed to it,” he said.
Singh demanded a SIT (Special Investigation Team) probe into the encounter in which Pushpendra Yadav was killed, a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family and a government job to one of the dependants of Pushpendra.
“If the government does not order a SIT probe, the AAP will intensify the agitation,” Singh said.
He said AAP workers and leaders would stage a day-long protest at all district headquarters
A delegation of AAP that also had Sabhajeet Singh, met the family members of Pushpendra on Thursday. The delegation helped the family talk to AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, who assured the family of all support.
