AAP flays UP move to hike power tariff

Friday, 02 August 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh for deciding to hike power tariff, saying it would break the backbone of consumers.

Singh said the AAP would hold a massive strike against the power tariff hike.

“The Delhi government headed by Arvind Kejriwal did not hike power tariff in five years and has also lowered fixed charges. On Thursday, the Kejriwal government announced 200 units of free power consumption. This is the difference between a government for people and a government for a select few,” Singh said.

Taking a jibe at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, the AAP leader said that Yogi Adityanath should learn the art of governance from his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal.

Singh said the UP government had decided 20-25 per cent hike in power tariff.
