Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi unit has repudiated the allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj against the Election Commission. Delhi BJP spokesperson Pratyush Kanth said that AAP is apprehensive of its defeat hence raising question.
Pertinently, on Friday, accusing the Election Commission (EC) of being biased, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and MLA Bhardwaj asked why the poll panel ordered campaigning to be stopped in West Bengal at 10 am on Thursday , a day before the scheduled deadline mentioning about the violence between BJP and TMC workers. To mark their protest against Kolkata violence, AAP volunteers joined a protest Mobile Torch Rally in Chittaranjan Park area with a group of citizens.
AAP spokesperson Bharadwaj, who participated in the protest, said, “What is happening in West Bengal is extremely serious and shows our democracy is in danger.”
On AAP MLA’s remark on EC, Kanth said AAP leader Bhardwaj has leveled serious allegation against the Election Commission. “Leveling charges against independent Constitutional Institutions like Elections Commission shows that the AAP has no trust in the Constitution of India,” said Kanth.
“There is no option for the AAP but to mislead the people of Delhi which has failed to regain its public support. Even before this, the party held EVMs responsible for its defeat in the Elections to the Municipal Corporations,” said Kanth while mentioning about Assembly election 2015, BJP leader said that the same EVM was used when AAP won 67 out of 70 seats in Delhi.
