Continuing the tirade against the Prime Minister, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati took a dig at Narendra Modi saying that “abuses are for those who call for them’’.
Mayawati was referring to Modi’s repeated charge that opposition leaders were using new abuses against him every day.
At his rallies, Narendra Modi laments that opposition parties use new abuses against him every day. It is natural to abuse a person whose actions deserve abuses, Sri Modi must remember this, Mayawati said.
“Jo gaali khaata hai, woh gaali khaane ka kaam karta hai’ (those who get abused must have done something to deserve this treatment),” The BSP chief said addressing a rally of SP-BSP-RLD alliance at Ghazipur on Monday. She also addressed a SP-BSP-RLD rally in Gorakhpur on Monday.
Don-turned politician Mukhtar Ansari’s elder brother Afzal Ansari is the Bahujan Samaj Party candidate from Ghazipur. He is pitted against Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Manoj Sinha, who is Union Minister of State for Communication. Polling in Gorakhpur and Ghazipur will be held in the last phase of Lok Sabha elections on may 19.
Mayawati also took a jibe at the Prime Minister for terming poverty as his caste during an election rally earlier last week, saying “he is changing his caste every second day for political selfish motives”.
Mayawati said that Prime Minister Modi had not kept even one-fourth of his promises made to farmers, Muslims, Dalits, unemployed youth, women and the poor of this country.
“The BJP, backed by the RSS with casteist and communal mindset, works only for the capitalist and big business houses” Mayawati said.
Claiming that the SP-BSP-RLD alliance will wipe out the BJP from Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati appealed to her supporters to ensure transfer of votes to the candidates of the three parties.
“Samajwadi Party president and his party cadre are working hard for the success of the alliance candidates. You have to ensure that the votes of SP in Ghazipur and of BSP in neighbouring constituencies are transferred to the alliance candidates,” she said.
Mayawati assured her supporters that the alliance would stay intact no matter what efforts the Bharatiya Janata Party makes to break it up.
“The mahagathbandhan will remain intact no matter how much the BJP tries to break it. Whether the BJP calls our alliance ‘mahamilawati’ or by whatever name, the alliance will last until Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is sent back to the mutt in Gorakhpur,” she added.
Lashing out at the Congress, Mayawati said despite being in power for several decades after Independence, the grand old party did nothing for the underprivileged.
“If Congress asks for votes then ask them what they have done despite remaining in power for so long and what is the guarantee they will work for the people,” she remarked.
