Urban Development department Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh on Friday directed officials of the Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (JUIDCO) to ensure additional drinking water supply to at least 1 lakh households in five municipal areas – Khunti, Giridih, Godda, Chakulia and Latehar.
In addition to this, he also asked the officials to ensure laying of foundation for drinking water supply machinery in Ranchi phase 2, Koderma, Basukinath, Dhanbad and phase 2, Mada in Dhanbad, Hussainabad, Jhumritillaiya, Ramgarh and Simdega municipal areas.
Chairing a meeting of urban development officials and JUIDCO in project building on Friday, Singh said that officials concerned must prioritise drinking water supply in urban areas and ensure that work begins in the concerned area soon after the laying of foundation.
During the review meeting, Singh expressed discontentment over the work done so far in the field of drinking water supply. The meeting revolved around ensuring additional and surplus drinking water supply to urban localities in Ranchi, Dhanbad, Chirkunda, Hazaribag, Chatra, Manika, Chaibasa, Pakur, Sahebganj, Phusro, Medninagar, Khunti, Latehar and Dumka.
Singh directed JUIDCO officials to hold a meeting with officials of drinking water and sanitation department and prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the various projects.
