With Assembly polls scheduled in the year-end, 1987 batch IPS officer, Rezi Dungdung, who had offered for VRS few months back, retired from service on Tuesday. Dungdung after his retirement made it clear that he will join active politics and will contest year-end Assembly.
Dungdung said, “It was a wonderful experience for me serving State police forces in various capacities. As I have retired from police service, I will remain associated with people directly as I have decided to join politics and will contest year end Assembly poll from Simdega.” However, Dundung refused to disclose which political party he will join.
Dungdung in his 32 years police service had served at different capacities in police administration. Before his retirement he was posted as ADG wireless. Dungdung was to retire on January 31, 2020 but few months back he had submitted his VRS to home department. The Home department had accepted his VRS and his retirement date were fixed as October 15. Dungdung, who comes from Simdega district of State is planning to contest the election from same area so that he can serve the people of the region.
Prior to Dungdung many senior IPS officers in State too after retirement have joined active politics. IPS officer Sheetal Oraon and Lakshman Prasad Singh after retirement had joined politics in 2014. Former DGP, VD Ram is presently MP from Palamu, while Congress State president Rameshwar Oraon too was ADG rank police officer.
