Admin unveils artist Ajay’s sand art to create voters’ awareness

A 'sand art' with a message of voting rights was unveiled by district administration of Bokaro on the bank of Damodar River with the aim to motivate voters and to ensure high percent polling in the forthcoming Assembly election.

The Assembly polls are scheduled to be held in third and fourth phases in four constituencies of the district – Bermo, Gomia, Bokaro and Chandankiyari. Bermo and Gomia will go for poll on 12 December while Bokaro and Chandankiyari on 16 December.

Sand Artist Ajay Shankar Mahato created this art form under the Voter Awareness Program organised by the district administration to increase voters’ participation in the elections.

 Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Development Commissioner-cum-Senior Nodal Officer, Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), said that voting is the first step towards giving the right direction to the country and to form a strong and responsible Government.

Therefore, all of us should vote and give our participation in forming a strong Government, he added.

"Voting is one of the most important steps which plays a very important role in giving the country a bright future," he said.

“I want to motivate all voters through my art (sand art) for active participation of people in the electoral process,” said Mahato.

He appealed to the youths to cast their votes on the day of polling.

Beside others SDO Chas Vijay Kumar, Block Development Officer of Chandankiyari, Vedavanti Kumari, Zonal Officer Manoj Kumar, District Public Relations Officer Rahul Kumar Bharti, Project Officer Rupesh Tiwari, Rakesh Ranjan Sinha, Arvind Kumar, S K Chourasia, Deepak Kumar and over hundred of villagers of Silfor Panchayat were present on the occasion.

The notification for the third phase of assembly elections was issued on 16 November.

A total of 697 polling stations have been set up for Gomia and Bermo assembly constituencies, in which 341 polling booths have been set up for Gomia assembly constituency and 356 polling booths for Bermo assembly constituency which has 37 model polling stations, informed Rahul Kumar Bharti DPRO.

A total of 89 sector magistrates have been appointed for both the assembly constituencies – 39 in Gomia and 50 in Bermo, he said.

There are a total of 580111 voters – 307014 men and 272616 women—in both the assembly constituencies, added Bharti.

The last date for filing nominations for the third phase is 25 November; scrutiny will be held on 26, the candidates can withdraw their names by 28 November, he said.

Under the voter awareness campaign, DDC and Bokaro SP P Murugun flagged off a motorcycle rally on Sunday evening which started from District Collectorate building, passed through Circuit House, Sector 2 C, Head Post-office, Bokaro Mall, City Center, Laxmi Market and concluded at Sector 5 Library Ground.
