AIMPLB promoter of terrorism: Minister

Sunday, 13 October 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

| Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mohsin Raza on Saturday launched a frontal attack on the  All-India Muslim Personal Law Board, saying it was “protector and promoter of terrorism” and the government would order  a probe to find out the source of its funding’’.

Questioning  the AIMPLB executive committee meeting held here on Saturday, Mohsin Raza  asked what was the purpose of convening the meeting  when the Supreme court was so  close  to delivering  its verdict on the centuries-old dispute.

He said at a time when the Supreme Court was about to deliver the verdict on the vexed Ayodhya land title dispute, the AIMPLB was misleading the people and was speaking against the apex court.

“Who gave them the right   to speak against the Supreme Court? The court verdict is likely to be delivered in November and the AIMPLB is misleading the people by organising a meeting here and issuing statements against the government and the apex court.” the minister charged.

“The All-India Muslim Personal Law Board should  reveal its source of funding and also the registration. Terror funding is done from abroad. From where are your funds coming?” the minister asked.

He said probe would be initiated into the funding of the AIMPLB.

“Its members stay in big hotels, travel by air. Who is funding the lavish lifestyle of the clerics of the AIMPLB?” he asked.

Mohsin Raza said when terrorists were killed in foreign lands their connection was found with religious organisation based in Uttar Pradesh.  He said that AIMPLB was like a non-governmental organisation whose members worked for their own vested interests and not for the larger interest of the community.

Meanwhile, AIMPLB member Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali rejected the charges levelled by Mohsin Raza.

“It will be better for the minister to use his discretion before making statements and he should keep his mouth shut.”
