The State Health Department is planning to upgrade and strengthen all the district hospitals of the State as per the norms of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS), said that the newly appointed Director General (DG) of state health services, Dr Amita Upreti while undertaking video conferencing session of all the chief medical officers (CMO) and Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) on Wednesday.
She said that by conforming to the IPHS standards, the problem of reference from the district hospitals to the higher centres would be solved to a major extent.
She added that the process of appointment of 600 doctors is at present going on and soon the specialist doctors would be available in the all the hospitals.
The DG directed the officials to ensure that the improvement in health services occurs and the increments on all health services indicators occur.
She also highlighted the need of timely completion of all the pending works.
Dr Upreti said that the works of the National Health Mission (NHM) are needed to be regularly monitored.
She also expressed her disappointment on downgrading of the health services on the parameters of the NITI Aayog.
