Amar Colony traders meet BJP leader against sealing

Tuesday, 25 June 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Residents of Amar Colony - Old Double Storey met Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal to address their grievances pertaining to ongoing sealing drive at Pradesh office on Monday.

Traders of the area said Environment Protection Control Authority (EPCA) is sealing the establishments on the pick and choose basis.” Sealing is a threat to our livelihood.. earlier, our shops were sealed and now our houses.. Why such treatment with Amar Colony traders,” a trader put his grievance before BJP.

Assuring unconditional support to traders, Chahal said, “BJP has always fought against injustice and continue to fight.”

“The shops and buildings in which unauthorized constructions have been made are protected from sealing under the Special Provision Act 2006 till December, 2020 and hence these shops cannot be sealed,” said the BJP leader citing amendments.

“Under the Master Plan 1962, constructions in the Double Storey Building Flats can be regularized for which the notified fee as on February7, 2007 have been deposited,” he emphasized.

“BJP had initiated campaign against sealing and it is against sealing of any kind. Under the leadership of Pradesh president Manoj Tiwari, we have fought with the residents of Amar Colony,” he added.

This may be recalled, Tiwari had opened a front against sealing in which he had exposed the corruption in Monitoring Committee and also brought in the cognizance of Supreme Court the issue of sealing being done on pick and choose.
