Anant Mandi held on Sunday at Gandhi Bhawan

Like every month, Anant Mandi was organised this Sunday at Gandhi Bhawan.

Organised by two youth groups Anant and Go Rurban, Anant Mandi aims to promote the practice of ecological farming, healthy and local food and sustainable living in urban settings and to enhance the relationship of farmers and consumers.

The Mandi (Farmers' Market) will be put up by farmers from various districts like Hoshangabad, Dewas, Sehore, Vidisha and Bhopal, in which they will bring a variety of food products and other products of personal care. In this Mandi, a Swap Sale Stall "Adlaa Badli" will also be put up to promote the culture of "exchange and sharing" instead of "buying new". People can bring clothes, books, stationery, accessories, kitchenware etc and exchange items at the stall.

As a cherry on the cake, delicious snacks and drinks made of organic food raw materials was served at the Mandi. Anant Mandi was organized on the last Sunday of every month at Gandhi Bhawan.

The day long event was comprised of different events. There was a Mandi of organic food products (for sale), being put up by various organic farmers and kitchen gardeners in and around Bhopal. Besides, workshops and panel discussions on various aspects of the importance of organic food and variety of agriculture, by experienced organic farmers and entrepreneurs.

The Bhopalites also enjoyed organic lunch meal with different and delicious dishes. It was followed by Harvest music and dance circles where in a lot of visitors participated and took the pleasure of Anant Mandi Farm Fest.

It is to be noted that from now Anant Mandi will be organised on the last Sunday of every month at Gandhi Bhavan. Polytechnic Square, Bhopal.
