Antagarh accused get interim relief from providing voice sample

Saturday, 21 September 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Lower court of Raipur rejected the plea of Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing infamous Antagarh graft case that had urged the court to give instruction to the accused in the case to give their voice samples.

Justice Leena Agrawal of the lower court rejected the plea of the SIT for the voice sample.

SIT had pleaded before the court to instruct accused Manturam, Ajit Jogi, Amit Jogi and Punit Gupta to provide their voice samples.

Prime accused Manturam Pawar   however had recently given consent for   providing voice sample to the SIT but the other accused had questioned the legality of the petition.

Advocates S.K. Farhan and Vivek Sharma pleaded on behalf of petitioners and argued that the legal status of the SIT itself is under question mark and the initial rulings of High Court of Chhattisgarh clarifies that no further action could be taken in this regard.

They also argued the SIT should clarify whether the device and digital records in their possession were original or not.
