Anti-dengue, malaria drive in wards begins

In order to create awareness among people by taking precautionary measures, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) has started anti-dengue and malaria drive in all 104 wards to reduce the cases of vector borne diseases in the national Capital.

Dr Jayaraj Nayak, Additional Commissioner of NMC said that as per guidelines issued by ‘Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’ and ‘National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme’ (NVBDCP), the corporation has started creating awareness on measures need to be adopted to prevent such diseases .

North Delhi Mayor Avtar Singh sought support of ‘Resident Welfare Association’ (RWA) to reduce the cases by ensuring no stagnant water in the locality and further crating awareness in the society about the measures.

District health officer of City Zone Dr Pramod Verma said that the civic body has also taken a number of measures to prevent mosquito breeding, including creating awareness by using various media, deploying more dengue breeding checkers, and desilting of drains. “Dengue breeding checkers (DMC) have been directed to ensure there was no breeding of mosquito larvae inside the houses,” he said. The Capital has recorded 53 cases of dengue and 20 cases of malaria this year.
