Three armed miscreants robbed 17 lakh from the staff of a cash management company at gunpoint. The incident took place in full view, outside the Croma Centre located at Sector-29 on Monday afternoon.

The Radiant Company works as cash management agency for various establishments in the city. The employees of the company collect cash from the establishments and deposit them in their accounts in different banks and charge fees from the establishments in lieu of this.

According to the police, the driver Dinesh Bharti told the police that he had reached Sector-29 on Monday afternoon collecting cash from different establishments along with the cashier Gagan.

“We had to collect cash from the Croma Center. For this, I parked the van outside the establishment and the cashier went inside the establishment to collect cash. At the same time three men reached the spot in a car and put their car in front of the van and took me on gunpoint and looted the cash bag placed inside the vehicle and fled-- the spot,” Dinesh stated to the police.

“The cashier informed the police about the incident and the total money that is missing is calculated to be around Rs 17 lakh 299 rupees which they had collected from various establishments,” the police said.

On receiving the information, the DLF Sector 29 police station rushed to the spot and started investigating the matter. Investigators are also scanning the CCTV footages to find out if the victims were being followed along the routes.

The police are now questioning the driver and the cashier of the company. A senior police officer said that prima facie they suspect an insider could be involved as the entire episode appeared to be a well planned one.

“A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against unknown persons at the Sector-29 police station. Further probe into the matter is underway. The accused will be arrested soon,” Subhash Boken spokesperson Gurugram police said.
