Police on Wednesday arrested five more persons in connection with the brutal murder of Aska Congress MLA candidate Manoj Jena on May 22.
While four accused were nabbed from Laxmipur area in Koraput district, one was arrested from Balugaon railway station.
Apart from this, the local police have issued a lookout circular against prime accused Bhagwan Sahu, who is absconding.
Three bikes, two mousers and two knives used in the crime were also seized from their possession.
Last week, two dreaded criminals, Ganesh Nayak and Hrushi Patra allegedly involved in the murder case were arrested after an encounter with police near the city.
Notably, a day before the 2019 poll results, unidentified miscreants had opened fire at the Congress candidate from Aska near Lanjipalli here. They had also slit his throat with knives and fled from the spot.
Jena was then admitted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on May 24.
The police subsequently launched a manhunt to nab the culprits and during the course of investigation, police identified involvement of five wanted criminals and a few more persons in the murder.
