Pakistan native and purported US citizen, Farida Malik was arrested and sent to jail under the Foreigners Act 1946 and Passport Act recently. According to Champawat Superintendent of Police (SP) Dheerendra Gunjyal the lady is under investigation and the police will be taking action as per the orders of the court. The woman has already been interrogated by Intelligence Bureau (IB), Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and local police among other agencies.
According to the official sources this is not the first instance that someone with no passport and Visa has tried to cross into India through the international border with Nepal. Some do it intentionally while some do it unknowingly. Agencies have started to verify the details provided by the accused Farida Malik and the embassies concerned are also being contacted.
