Wednesday, 21 August 2019 | PNS | BALANGIR

A clerk of the Gudbhela BEO office in Balangir district was arrested by Vigilance officials on Tuesday for allegedly taking bribe from a retired teacher for approval of his revised pension.

Accused Damana Mishra had demanded Rs 5,000 from Hadu Bhoi, the retired teacher and a resident of Salepali village under Gudbhela block in the district, for sanctioning of his revised pension.

Bhoi reported the matter to the Vigilance, following which a trap was laid by sleuths of the anti-corruption agency. The clerk was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officials while he was receiving the bribe from the complainant.

The accused was later forwarded to court. Vigilance officials also raided his house at Patharateka village in Subarnapur district.
