The agitation of the Berhampur University Retired Employees’ Association on a six-point charter demands reached its third day here on Friday.
The retired employees of the university are on a peaceful dharna but their demands are ignored by the university administration, said a retired employee.
Some of the key demands include payment of the arrears as per the directions of the Orissa High Court, leave encashment as per the changed rules, gratuity and commutation as per the rules, pension and arrear pension due since 2015 and such other pensionary benefits due to the employees.
The employees alleged that, though they are on peaceful agitation since last three days, none from the university administration so far has met with them to discuss about their long and genuine problems.
Around 100 retired employees are on dharana before the administrative block of the university at Bhanja Bihar, sources said.
Among others, president of the Berhampur University Retired Employees’ Association Govinda Chandra Sahu, secretary Radhasyam Pattnaik, Prafulla Dalai, Ramakrushna Senapati, Iswari Chandra Sahu and Dr Ganapati Prasad Choudhury were present.
