Baghel outlines govt’s plans for DMF

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday told the state assembly that for the utilisation of District Mining Fund (DMF), stakeholders were being identified, a five-year vision document was being prepared, a social audit would be conducted and youth, livelihood and cultural conservation had been added within its ambit.

He said government had amended the laws to include district in-charge minister, local MLAs and other village representatives in the District Mineral Fund Trust.

He was answering to a query raised by BJP member Narayan Chandel during question hour of the monsoon session of the assembly on non-start of works even after the works were sanctioned by earlier government.

Baghel said the emphasis had been given on education, health and other priority       sectors that could impact     drastic changes, including their livelihood, in the lives of    affected villagers. Around 50% funds would be utilized for it. Comparing over last government, he said only two Sarpanch were kept while    maximum funds were being utilized in other areas.

JCC (J) member and Marwahi MLA Ajit Jogi appreciating the steps, said the amount of spending should be hiked from 50% to 100% and be liberal on the issue.

Other members also raised supplementary questions on the issue.
