Bandh held against sub-jail relocation

Tuesday, 16 July 2019 | PNS | NAYAGARH

A 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh was observed in Daspalla in Nayagarh district on Monday in protest against the move to relocate the local sub-jail. The strike paralysed normal life in the area.

The Daspalla Kriyanusthan Committee had given the bandh call opposing the State Government’s decision for relocation of the Daspalla Sub-Jail.

A group of members of the committee staged a dharna near the sub-jail while another group blocked the NH in the area disrupting vehicular movement on the Khordha-Balangir road. Vehicles also remained off the roads in Daspalla town.

Besides, schools and colleges, shops and other business establishments and Government and non-Government offices remained closed. The committee warned that the agitation would continue until the decision of sub-jail relocation is withdrawn.
