Bands pump musical energy into BITOTSAV

Sunday, 17 February 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

They crooned into the microphone and the crowd was on its feet; head-banging to the contemporary beats and grooving like there is no tomorrow.  BITOTSAV’19, Birla Institute of Technology’s (BIT) annual fest, oozed with youthful energy and zeal on Saturday as students left no stone unturned in making the most out of the annual extravaganza’s penultimate day.

The day started off with BITOTSAV’s flagship event Saptak – the Eastern Battle of Bands. As songs such as Dil Se Re and Katte reverberated at the CAT Hall, there was little chance to stop the youngsters from shaking a leg. The highly competitive clash of the bands lasted for nearly an hour and kept the audiences glued to their seat. Team Villager, Team Mantra and Team Reggaeton bagged the first, second and the third prize respectively after winning the stage and hearts with their innovative, contemporary fusions.

The day at BIT Mesra, however, was not only about fun and frolic; it also had in store some nerve-wracking contests for the techies. Debates, drama, fashion shows, street dancing, art and more – the variety of events organized this day deserves an extra brownie point.

Kalam-E-Tahir, as the name suggests, was a poetry writing competition that brought out the most intense festoon of words from the otherwise technology savvy engineering students. The participants had four minutes to write poems and were given two topics to choose from – ‘Diversity in our Culture’ or ‘Civilization and Order in Chaos.’

Soon after the poetry writing contest, the techies had to prove their mettle in their domain – technology. This contest tested the students’ knowledge about latest technology and innovations. Each participant was given a time slot of two minutes to speak.

The day ended at an all time high with Band Nite, wherein popular Indi-Rock bands Naalayak and Moongfali brought the house down and left the students craving for more.
