BEd junior teachers demand pay hike

Monday, 18 November 2019 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The BEd Junior Teachers’ Association demanded pay hike and regularization of job for the junior teachers and contract teachers at its executive meeting under the chairmanship of its president Saroj Kumar Panda here on Sunday.

Expressing concern over the continuous apathy of the State Government in addressing the genuine problems of the teachers, the association warned of taking to streets if the demands for pay hike as per the 7th Pay Commission  scale and regularizing the teachers who are under contract basis for 6 years were not fulfilled in the ongoing Assembly session.

The association said that the State Government is getting grant from the Centre for 93,000 contract teachers but at present, the State has just 50,000 contract teachers. Hence, funds are not a problem to hike the pay, it said.

General secretary Rupesh Kumar Sahu, vice president Padmalochan Ghadai, organizing secretary Sudipta Kumar Parida, Makar Ketan Sahu, Lalatendu Mahal and Bhimsen Maharana, among others were present.
