A Hindi play ‘Behtar Hai Maut’ based on the story of people suffering with cancer was staged in city leaving the audience mesmerized. The play was performed here on Friday at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum. It was performed under Abhinayan series.
The play was directed by Prabhakar Trivedi. This drama was based on a middle class family, in which family head Narendra Mohan is suffering from a terminal disease like cancer.
Due to his disease the whole family faces many problems. Cancer patient Narendra Mohan used to pray for each moment that he should die, but he could not die. That is why family members gradually leave him alone.
Therefore, Narendra Mohan's younger daughter files an appeal in the court ‘Meri Maut’, but the appeal is dismissed. But, how Narendra fights for himself, his self respect was the rest of the story. In the play, the character of Narendra Mohan has been played by Satyam Arkh. Satyam Arkh filled the audience with his acting skills. The end of the drama produces many questions, such as how it should behave with a person suffering from an incurable illness like cancer? What should be done to reduce its pain? Is choosing death right?
In this play the beauty of life's struggle and death was presented wonderfully. In this drama how should we behave with others, this inspiration is given in this dramatic presentation. The play was a message to the society and was performed in impactful manner before the audience.
