The Berhmapur Municipality Corporation (BeMC) Commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore organised awareness and testing sessions for employees of BeMC and the jamadaars, sweepers of all the 40 Wards on Saturday.
Dr Sunil Kumar Kota, noted consultant from Endocrinologist from Diabetes and Endocare Clinic, Brahmapur lent his helping hand and collaborated with BeMC for this gesture.
The awareness programme started here on Saturday on the occasion of World Diabetes Day which was inaugurated by Commissioner, BeMC Chakravarti Singh Rathore and slum development officer Ipsita Priyadarshini Mishra.
Dr Kota explained to the attending staff about causes, symptoms, complications, prevention and treatment of diabetes, hypertension, lipid and thyroid disorders via an interactive question and answer session followed by pathological testings of blood sugar, blood pressure, thyroid, nerve function and kidney function (urine for micral).
Personnel from Sanakara Eye Hospital too participated in the workshop and did the eye testing. Educational leaflets on diabetes and thyroid disorders were distributed among the participants. Nearly, 600 staffers of BeMC got benefitted.
The final session was held for personnel of BeMC office at its conference hall under supervision of Deputy Commissioner Romanchal Khamari and Executive Engineer P Syamababau Patro where around 110 people got screened.
